Meshewa House Wedding: Classic Blue Elegance with a Sports-Inspired Twist
Some weddings simply radiate personality, and Caroline and Connor’s celebration at the stunning Meshewa House at Turner Farms in Cincinnati was one of those rare events where every element was a reflection of their love story. From a carefully curated color palette inspired by classic blue interiors to a surprise visit from the Cincinnati Bearcat mascot, this wedding was a masterclass in blending elegance with personality.
Caroline and Connor were drawn to timeless blue tones, taking inspiration from classic interior design. To create depth and balance between the feminine light blues and more masculine deep navy tones, we layered in earthy taupes, warm browns, and subtle greens. A touch of coral and yellow blooms punctuated the design, adding just the right amount of vibrancy to their floral arrangements. This refined palette carried through every detail, from the invitations to the monogrammed napkins and even the back-inlay wallpaper.
Set in Meshewa House’s picturesque gardens, the ceremony took place within a lush semi-circular floral installation, surrounding the couple in dreamy, romantic hues. Afterward, guests made their way to the reception under an elegant sailcloth tent, where the real magic unfolded.
Sailcloth tents are known for their ethereal beauty, but their minimal interior structure makes hanging decor a challenge. To enhance the ambiance, we collaborated with our rental partners to custom-source drum shade lighting, adding an intimate glow that elevated the entire setting. The soft lighting, combined with the rich color palette, created an inviting atmosphere that felt both sophisticated and personal.
One of the most creative elements of the evening was the seamless integration of Caroline and Connor’s shared passion for sports. Rather than a typical reception bar, we designed an upscale “sports bar” featuring a dual-sided TV and two lounge areas, ensuring that guests could enjoy the evening football game without ever feeling disconnected from the celebration.
The centerpiece of this space was a trophy case seating chart—filled with meaningful sports memorabilia from their childhood and beyond, tying their personal histories into the overall design. The C&C monogram, a subtle yet striking detail, appeared throughout the wedding, from the invitations to the napkins, reinforcing the couple’s unique brand of elegance.
One of the most unforgettable moments of the evening came as a complete surprise to the groom. In the middle of dancing, we had arranged for the Cincinnati Bearcat mascot to make an unexpected appearance, in turn electrifying the dance floor and leaving Connor utterly speechless. It was a moment of pure joy that perfectly captured the spirit of the night.
Every aspect of the wedding felt intentional and deeply personal, including the cake, which was inspired by Caroline’s wedding gown. Caroline also incorporated blue into her bridal look with stunning blue shoes and earrings, subtly tying in the overall theme. And in a final sentimental touch, the couple took portraits with Caroline’s father’s 1957 baby pink Thunderbird, a nod to family history and classic style.
As with any outdoor wedding, weather is always a factor. Leading up to the big day, Cincinnati experienced severe storms, making planning flexibility essential. We worked closely with the couple to develop backup plans and ultimately decided to forgo tent sidewalls, allowing the fresh air to enhance the ambiance. While the ground remained soft from the rain, the skies cleared just in time, making for a perfect celebration under the stars.
Caroline and Connor’s wedding at Meshewa House was the epitome of personalized elegance, blending sophisticated design with sentimental, meaningful details. It was a day filled with love, surprises, and the kind of magic that happens when a wedding is truly a reflection of the couple at its heart.
